This September, Etnia Barcelona travelled to Madrid to participate in the Mercedes Benz Cibeles Madrid Fashion Week in the company of designer Moisés Nieto for the presentation of his Sea, Sex and Sun collection for Spring-Summer 2016.

A collection inspired by the ’60s when Swedish girls flooded the beaches of Torremolinos showing off their charms. Foreign currency and modernity entered the country like a breath of fresh air.
Enormous hotels with modern architecture went up, changing the landscape of the city. Nightclubs where movie stars like Princess Grace of Monaco, Ingrid Bergman and Sophia Loren turned up. The Spanish movies about the Costa del Sol from the period help us reconstruct the landscape of a golden age centred on clichés like sangría, paella, the Latin Lover, and flamenco. Very real clichés, no doubt, that in no way depicted the cosmopolitan vibe, liberty and fun that existed at the height of the dictatorship and preceded the socio-cultural change that Spain needed.
A collection full of miniskirts and culottes mixed with midi-length duffle coats. T-shirt dresses and pinafores over bow-tie blouses. Sixties silhouettes and light, practically sheer dresses. Pastel pinks and intense reds, camel, and royal blue neoprene with a knit texture. Transparent micro-sequins paired with wool crepe. Ottoman, silk and cotton terry-cloth.

All accompanied by optical and sunglass models from our Vintage collection. Shoreditch, Kreuzberg, Mission District and Malasaña were the models chosen from the Etnia Barcelona Vintage collection by Moisés Nieto to complement this very summery andvintage-inspired collection.
