Beijing has fired the starting signal marking the beginning of a week of design. Renowned artists and professionals from Barcelona are out in force at this year’s Beijing Design Week, this edition’s guest city, following in the footsteps of London, Milan and Amsterdam. Last year’s event welcomed almost five million visitors and 1,800 designers and design institutions from all over the world took part. Barcelona is making the most of this opportunity to show the Asian giant its creative and design capacity and to forge business relationships.
Beijing has been organising design week for four years. It is a trade exhibition with conferences, street installations (many in the oldest district, Dashilar) and exhibitions that show all aspects of design. The activities are free and attract thousands of people to different parts of the city where Beijing Design Week (BJDW) takes place.
Etnia Barcelona, one of the companies invited to act as ambassadors for the trade and economy of our city, exhibited its products during the exhibition, giving everyone an opportunity to see the identity of the designs of our land in a far-flung setting with a completely different culture.
