Giulia Scalese #EtniaCollective

For this year’s launch of our #EtniaCollective project, we’ve invited a community of international artists, with whom we share the values of creativity and color, and the anartist vision, to interpret the designs of our products. Illustration, digital art, photography, and fashion are just some of the disciplines we’ve brought together with our Etnia Barcelona glasses to inspire original content, while shining a light on new talent that you’ll definitely want to follow!

Just like Italian artist Giulia Scalese, who goes by the alias The Collecteur on social media. Giulia’s photo gallery is a breath of fresh air in the world of fashion and trends, thanks to her fresh perspective, vibrant use of color, and the creativity of her compositions. Her esthetic world shows a notable influence of icons such as Iris Apfel, director Wes Anderson and his powerful visual signature, and magnetically personal fashion designers such as Alessandro Michele at Gucci.

With all of these reference points in mind, and not forgetting summer 2018’s trends, Giulia Scalese has focused on our Etnia Barcelona Spiga Sun BKWH sunglasses, a new addition to our Originals 2018 collection. Interpreted through her colorful, pop-hued eye, and with a composition that calls out to summer.

Tell us someone you admire that in your opinion has changed the rules.

Iris Apfel pops into mind. Oh how I hope to be as fabulous as her one day! She’s an icon inside and out and of course a rule breaker too. 😉

If you had to pick just one color; which one would it be?

Red, the color of passion!

If there was a movie about you, what soundtrack would we be listening?

Hmmm, that’s a tough one! The soundtrack would definitely need to be quirky, happy and upbeat. Instrumental only… like color for your ears.

Recommend us a painter, writer, filmmaker, designer, musician… People that inspire your creativity.

Female artist/painter Chloe Wise – love her work! Some of my favorite contemporary film makers: Wes Anderson, Paul Thomas Anderson, Martin Scorsese, Cohen Brothers, Nicolas Winding Refn, Alejandro Iñarritu. I really love film! Designers that inspire me: Vivetta Ponti, Jonathan Anderson, Alessandro Michele, Miuccia Prada.

If Etnia Barcelona were an artist; which one would it be?

Picasso! The Spiga style that I worked with happen to remind me of a famous portrait of Pablo in which he wears a black and white striped shirt. And I always think of glasses as the “second” face. They add a whole new dimension and style to your image.
